Waterford Writers’ Weekend – 20 – 23 March 2014

Venue: Various venues in Waterford City

Waterford Writers Weekend celebrates the art and the craft of writing. This lively weekend is filled with workshops, readings and debates designed to engage and delight audiences. Based in Ireland’s oldest city, which celebrates 1100 years in 2014, Waterford’s history and heritage will take centre stage.

Creativity in youth is of special significance to the festival, and events for students, children and families serve to inspire the imagination. Storytelling, theatre, local author readings, fringe events, arts exhibitions and so much more will happen over the weekend!

Waterford Writers Weekend 2014 will give a true flavour of the literary heritage of the city founded by the Vikings in 914. Key events will include a celebration of the crime fiction writer, Raymond T. Chandler, who had early and influential connections with Waterford. An exhibition on the life and work of the renowned playwright Teresa Deevy will be displayed for the duration of the festival and will be complemented with talks about her influence on Irish theatre.

As always, the Sean Dunne Young Writers Awards will commemorate the writing of the Waterford poet and celebrate the work of aspiring young authors. A full programme of children’s events, historical talks and inspirational speakers make this festival one for all the family.

The four star self catering accommodation at Seacliff Holiday Homes, Dunmore East is the perfect location for all events within County Waterford.
