Waterford Viking Marathon takes place in the historic city of Waterford which was founded by the Vikings in 914. This is no ordinary marathon or road race – this is a run for survival, the ultimate chase! With a pack of stampeding Vikings in hot pursuit, it is a battle of wits. Survive and you are a Viking Warrior! With a full, half or quarter marathon option available, this race is an opportunity for all levels to get involved.

The route starts right in the heart of the Viking Triangle and takes in many of the historic city streets before heading out to the beautiful seaside town of Tramore.

The Regional Sports Centre on the Cork Road plays host to the finish line which allows runners an Olympic style lap of the track before being reunited with family and friends and a chance to enjoy a fun festival feel celebration at the stadium.

The marathon route is measured and approved by Athletics Ireland. This unique running event is renowned for its music, entertainment, supporters and Vikings along route which makes for an electric atmosphere on the day.

There is plenty of entertainment for the kids and food and refreshments available.

Each finisher receives a goodie bag, top quality medal and t-shirts for completing the race.
