Immrama, The Lismore Festival of Travel Writing

16 – 19 June 2016 | Venue: Various venues in Lismore, Co. Waterford

Immrama – The Lismore Festival of Travel Writing takes place in June each year and is the only one of its kind in the world. Focusing on travel writing and literature, a different theme is explored annually. The programme includes literary presentations by top national and international travel writers and bi-lingual workshops augmented by ancillary events in other areas of mainstream literature.

The festival builds on the historical past of the town as Lismore contained a seat of learning 1,000 years ago. The book of Lismore was found in Lismore Castle in early 1800s and contains a translation in Irish of the travels of Marco Polo. Lismore is also the residence of Dervla Murphy, one of Ireland’s best known travel writers.

The four star self catering accommodation at Seacliff Holiday Homes, Dunmore East is the perfect location for all events within County Waterford.
