Dungarvan Summer Music Festival, 4-6 August 2017

Dungarvan Summer Music Festival

Venue: Dungarvan

The Dungarvan Summer Music Festival is the perfect excuse to get yourself to the sunny southeast for some excellent music from international performers.

The weekend festival is based around three main concerts. The first is from Edges of Light, a collaborative group featuring the legendary dancing feet of Colin Dunne, who performs to traditional music played in flying fashion by Maeve Gilchrist on harp, David Power on the uilleann pipes and Tola Custy on fiddle.

Following that will be Masters of Tradition, a concert bringing some of the most iconic performers of trad to the stage in the SGC Theatre in Dungarvan. Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill of superband The Gloaming are just two of the names on the bill that should get fans excited.

Then, get yourself to St Mary’s Church of Ireland for The Piper and the Faerie Queen, a concert of music inspired by fantastical 17th and 18th-century literature by composers like Handel and Purcell.

As well as all of that, there will be free impromptu performances by international musicians along the Greenway – in the tunnel at Ballyvoile, on top of the Kilmacthomas viaduct, and in Dungarvan Park at the Bandstand.

It will be a jam-packed weekend that will keep your music-loving ears very, very happy.
